ARO19: The Cist on the Foreshore at Lopness, Sanday, Orkney

A Bronze Age cist burial, located on the foreshore of Sanday in Orkney, was excavated in advance of coastal erosion. The cist was constructed from large beach flags and contained an incomplete crouched inhumation of a female of approximately 40 to 50 years of age, within a midden-like fill.
